Terms of Use
Last updated September 27, 2026
These terms apply to MahjongOpenPlay.com and to Mahjong Open Play sessions, operated by TKJM Enterprises LLC ("we", "us"). By using the site or booking a seat you agree to them. Please read them, and email info@MahjongOpenPlay.com with any questions.
Who can play
Players must be 18 or older. The person who books is responsible for the guests they book for.
Bookings and prices
- Prices are shown on the site before sales tax. Sales tax is added at checkout and shown on your receipt. Current prices: a seat reserved online is $20 plus sales tax, a table of four reserved online is $75 plus sales tax, and a walk-up seat at the door, if a seat is left, is $25 plus sales tax. Walk-up seats are not guaranteed.
- A booking covers 1 to 4 players at one session. Tables are assigned by your host at check-in.
- Walk-up seats are available only when seats remain.
- A price change applies to future purchases only. It never changes a purchase already made.
Credits
- Each credit covers one seat at a standard open play session, whatever the current price. Credits have no cash value and cannot be topped up or exchanged for cash.
- You may use your credits to book seats for other people.
- A seat cancelled in a class, such as A Taste of Mahjong, gives a class credit. A class credit is for a future class, not for open play.
- Details on credit terms are coming soon.
- Class bonus: for each seat bought in the November 2 class we add one bonus free open play session to your account, good for any open play session through November 18. The bonus is separate from the class price and is not part of a bundle. It has no cash value, cannot be exchanged for cash, and is cancelled if the class seat is cancelled or refunded, or if the class is cancelled or moved to another date.
Rewards
Think of it as a digital punch card. A punch is earned by playing: each open play seat that is checked in at the session earns one punch for the person who paid for it, and after 10 punches you receive one free open play seat. A seat that is cancelled, missed without cancelling, or cancelled late and not filled by another player does not earn a punch. Classes do not earn punches. Seats covered by a reward, a goodwill credit, or a complimentary seat do not count toward rewards. A seat cancelled for a credit does not count, but the seat you later book with that credit does.
Cancellations, credits, and missed sessions
- If you cancel at least 12 hours before the session starts, your seat is released and you receive one session credit, whether you paid by card, pack credit, or reward.
- If you cancel less than 12 hours before the start, your seat is released and you receive a credit only if another player pays for a seat in that session afterwards, online or at the door. Late cancelled seats are credited in the order they were cancelled. We email you when your seat is filled, and after the session if it was not. If it was not filled, there is no credit.
- Classes, such as A Taste of Mahjong, need at least 8 players to run. For a class, the cutoff is 48 hours instead of 12: cancel at least 48 hours before the start and you receive a class credit for a future class. If a class does not reach 8 players, we will move your seat to another date, or refund you in full if that date does not work for you. The late cancel rule above applies to classes too. If you cannot attend any other future class date, write to us and we will refund you for the class.
- If a session is full, you may join its waitlist for free. When a seat opens, we hold it for you at the normal price and email you. You have 60 minutes to accept and pay, less near the start, and you are charged only if you accept. If you decline or do not answer in time, the seat goes to the next person and you leave the waitlist. We stop making waitlist offers 30 minutes before the start.
- If you do not cancel and do not check in within 15 minutes of the start, the seat is treated as used, no credit is issued, and the seat may be given to a walk-up. A seat that is missed, or cancelled late and not filled, does not earn a punch on the rewards card.
- We do not refund to cards for cancellations, except where we choose to in unusual circumstances or where the law requires. When we do refund part of a purchase, such as one player of a group, the refund includes that seat's sales tax.
- If we cancel a session (for example, for weather or a venue closure), we will issue a credit for each seat, or a refund if we offer one.
House rules
- There is no gambling at our sessions. Play is for fun only, and no money may change hands between players.
- Please be kind and patient with fellow players, and keep phones away from the table.
- We may ask anyone who disrupts a session to leave, and may refuse future bookings.
- Please bring your own current year National Mah Jongg League card. We have a few to borrow.
Text messages
If you book and tick the text message box at checkout, we will text the mobile number you enter, only about your booking confirmations, reminders for sessions you have booked, waitlist seat notifications you have requested, and cancellation confirmations. These are the only texts you will receive. We do not send marketing or promotional texts.
Message frequency varies. Msg and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to cancel and HELP for help. Consent to receive texts is not a condition of any purchase. Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages. See our Privacy Policy for the exact wording of the checkout box and how we handle your number.
Partner venues
Sessions take place at independent partner venues. Any food, drink, or welcome gift from a venue is provided by that venue under its own policies.
Our liability
We provide the site and sessions "as is". To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, and our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid for the session involved.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Florida.
Changes
We may update these terms. The date above shows the latest version. Bookings are governed by the terms in place when you booked.
