A Taste of Mahjong
Learn enough to start playing.
An introductory American Mahjong class taught by Master Your Mahjong. Most people who ask about mahjong say the same thing: they've always wanted to learn, and they just never started. This is the easiest place to start. You'll have tiles in front of you in the first 10 minutes, not a lecture.

The bonus is a thank you for taking the class. It is not part of the class price, has no cash value, and cannot be exchanged for cash. If you cancel, or are refunded, for the class seat before the class, its bonus session is cancelled with it.

- You've never touched a tile and want to see what the fuss is about;
- You played once years ago and none of it stuck; or
- You've watched friends play and wondered if it's for you.
About Master Your Mahjong. Gaia Banovich founded Master Your Mahjong and created the Mahjong Made Simple method. Master Your Mahjong teaches this class with that method, which leaves out everything you don't need your first time. The class stays light and keeps moving, and no one is expected to know anything about Mahjong before the class.

What to expect
- No equipment needed. Tiles and racks are provided.
- Arrive 15 minutes early to settle in. We start promptly at 11:30 am.
- Bring a friend and sign up together. Coming on your own? Come on your own. Your instructor will seat you, and you'll meet people who are just as new as you.
You will leave knowing the basics, ready to start playing and improving each time you play.
A Taste of Mahjong blends Gaia's own Mahjong Made Simple material with our goal of getting you ready to join a practicing-level table at Open Play, where our hosts help keep the game moving. The only way the rules will truly click into place is to play again soon and often.
We need at least 8 players to run the class
Life happens, and so does ticket math. If we don't reach 8, we'll move your seat to another date. If that date doesn't work for you, we'll refund you in full.
